Cooredulla - About Us

History of Cooredulla

Ted & Fiona Henderson are the owners of Cooredulla, a 530 hectare property at Tenterfield, NSW.

The word Cooredulla (koo-re-dull-a) is an aboriginal word meaning 'Eagle Hawk'.  In the summer time, these can be seen in the sky, looking for small prey such as rats, mice and rabbits.  The property dates back to the 1800's and was originally owned by the first Minister for Transport in the QLD Government.

They run around 500 stud quality Poll Shorthorn cattle, 30 registered Alpacas, 20 registered Quarter Horses.  Fiona, a qualified Aroma & Massage Therapist, also makes her luscious Lemon Myrtle Lip Balm, Scented Rose Petals and has various items of Alpaca craftwork for sale.

Where are we?

Cooredulla is situated just 7km east of Tenterfield on the Bruxner Highway.  The property is located on the NSW New England Tablelands and is 888m above sea level.  Cool winters and warm summers typify this area which is a fine sheep, prime lamb, vineyard and cattle district. Cooredulla covers both sides of the Great Dividing Range.

What we do

Ted has been breeding Poll Shorthorns and Quarter Horses for over 50 years.  Fiona started the Alpaca herd back in 1994.  Ted manages the cattle and quarter horses while Fiona manages the Alpacas, along with following her passion for essential oils, using these in her work as a qualified Aroma & Massage Therapist.

Fiona's favourite essential oil is Lemon Myrtle, with an odour well recognised as having an uplifting effect.  She has had first hand experience of this oil helping to relieve the problems of the common cold, flue, bronchitis and herpes simplex (cold sores). Lemon Myrtle is an Australian Native plant that grows in  rainforest areas from Cairns to Brisbane.

Fiona sources Lemon Myrtle essential oil that is grown within a 100km radius of Cooredulla for use in her Lip Balm and also uses Lavender officialis in her Scented Rose Petals.  She exports both of these products.
